Device setup

This page describes how to configure a registered device: its LED strips, its sensor buttons, and its maintenance actions. Configuration requires the IoT Administration permission.

Where to find it

  1. Open the IoT Dashboard and open the device. The Device details page opens.
  2. Click Edit to change the device configuration.

Configure LED strips

  1. On the device, configure the LED strips per channel.
  2. Create the LED segments and set their density and offset so the light positions match the physical locations.
  3. Use the light-up functions on the rack to verify that the LEDs point to the right locations — see Storages and racks.

Add and address sensor buttons

  1. On the Device details page, click Add sensors.
  2. Click Assign addresses. The SMC address assignment dialog opens.
  3. Press each sensor button and select its address from the pool. Every button changes from Unassigned to Assigned.
  4. Click Done.
  5. If a sensor is mounted upside down, set its rotation to Upside down and click Save rotation.
warning

Saving the rotation reboots the device. Running processes on the connected storage are interrupted while the device restarts.
