Onboard a device

This workflow shows you how to register a new device in oneGRID. Use it when new hardware for LED guidance or sensor buttons arrives in your warehouse.

Role: Administrator

Prerequisites

• Your account has the IoT Administration permission.
• The device is connected to power and can be connected to your network.
• Your firewall allows the device's outgoing connections. The Add Device page shows the required details in the Firewall Configuration Alert: the device communicates with the cloud on port 8883 and receives updates on port 80.

Steps

1. Open the IoT Dashboard and click Add Device.
2. Enter the Device Name and the Device ID printed on the device.
3. Connect the device to your network (LAN).
4. Click Connect. oneGRID registers the device; when the connection is established, the device appears with the status Online.
5. Continue in the edit form that opens to configure the device's LED strips and sensor buttons — see Device setup.

Result

The device is registered, online, and ready to be configured and assigned to a storage.

If something goes wrong

Problem	See
The device stays Offline after connecting	Check the network cabling and the firewall ports listed above, then check the device on the IoT Dashboard
